| | Chinese Flower Batik Handbag with Bamboo Handles
Batik, also known as laran or wax printing, is an ancient Chinese tradition dating back to the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-24 AD). This Chinese folk art combines painting and dyeing fabric. Melted beeswax or paraffin is first applied to a white cloth to block out different shapes. Then, the cloth is dyed with indigo blue, after which the wax is removed with hot water revealing the pattern created by the blocked out shapes. Each piece is a unique piece of art – no two are exactly alike. Complete with bamboo handles.
