Roman Glass Cluster Necklace & Earrings (Israel)
Two thousand years ago, the industrialization of glass using glass blowing techniques was one of the Romans' most important accomplishments, resulting in the use of glass items for myriad household items.

Israel is one of the few locations in the world in which a series of geological and climactic phenomena coencided, enabling the formation and preservation of this striking glass. The process relies on 2000 years of contact with mineral rich damp soil as well as oxidation. The glass is excavated from archeological sites in Israel and each piece used in a piece of jewelry was originally once part of a plate, vase, cup or other common household glass object used 2000 years ago. Each piece has a unique look and is a result of varying minerals and conditions to which the glass has been exposed.

Although the glass is sealed with lacquer, contact with any liquids can dissolve the seal, causing the layers of natural patina to dissolve or flake off. Set in sterling silver and inspired by ancient designs and natural motifs.
