Vintage Asia Tray (Philippines)
Use these sleek looking trays as display pieces, or use them to serve breakfast in bed! The prints on these trays are called Ukiyo-e, which means pictures of the floating world. Ukiyo-e usually depict famous Kabuki actors, Sumo wrestlers, Geisha and traditional literary subjects, as well as favorite natural wonders and everyday life. Because Japan was a closed society from the 1600's to mid 1800's they are a uniquely Japanese art form and represent the last flowering of traditional pictorial art before Japan entered the modern era. These trays are made out of wood and painted black. They also feature two legs underneath to support the main tray. Choose the geisha print or the wave print.
