Our Moroccan Agadir canisters are handcrafted from the rich red clay of Marrakech and glazed with tadelakt. The technique of tadelakt was born from a desire to protect interior walls and surfaces of the Moroccan hammams (public baths) from moisture and keep them cool. The answer was an unusual clay-like glaze consisting of crushed eggshells among other things, which not only held the water at bay, but was also uniquely beautiful. The thick glaze results in
unusual textures and pastel colors.
These canisters have a million and one uses - great for cotton balls, bath salts, wrapped candies and more. There are slight variations in shape, color and size due to the nature of the handcrafted work. Not for raw food or liquid storage or use.
