Our Agadir candlesticks are handcrafted from the rich red clay of Marrakech and glazed with tadelakt. The technique of tadelakt was born from a desire to protect interior walls and surfaces of the Moroccan hammams (public baths) from moisture and keep them cool. The answer was an unusual clay- like glaze consisting of crushed eggshells among other things, which not only held the water at bay, but was also uniquely beautiful. Tadelakt has a complex surface, much like marble or alabaster and is smooth to the touch.
Comes as a set of 2 candlesticks. Choose violet, eggshell or periwinkle. Candle not included.
